Thomas Poindexter 1675/77 - 1707
Thomas lived and died in New Kent County, VA. He married Sarah Crawford/Crafford in circa 1695 in New Kent County, VA. Thomas is either the son of George 1 or George 2 (Latest Report From The EPARC) as both are immigrants and early-published materials list him as "Son of George Poindexter the Immigrant."
Birthplace believed to be in area that is now Williamsburg, VA
Thomas in St Peter's Parish Records until 1702 and then shows up in St Paul's Parish records in 1705.
Since Thomas's wife Sarah remarries Rev. James Brechin and the land is transferred to show this in 1711/20. This clearly shows that Julius Caesar Poindexter is not the son of this Sarah but of another Sarah. Also that Thomas above had died before 1711.
Sarah was born 12 May 1666 in Amherst County, VA. USA.
She married Thomas Poindexter circa 1695 in New Kent County, VA. She married James Brechin
Rev 1711. She made a will June 1752 Louisa County, VA. The following individuals are also

Sarah sold the land inherited from her father to her son John Poindexter 5 Nov. 1731.
Information from Chancery Suit; Judgments August 1767. (Copy of entire paper under
text David Crafford/Crawford) Sarah signed a deed 29 November 1752 for one Negro boy, Duke, to John Sneed of Hanover County, VA. This was witnessed by three of her children; Thomas Poindexter, James Brechin,
Ann Reatherford/Rutherford.
Sarah married 2nd Rev James Brechin/Breechin. Issue William, James, Jane, Ann.
Her will, made circa 1752, mentions all 9 children by both her husbands. This will did bequeath certain slaves which she had of her father's estate. This was from a statement of James Brechin taken 19 March 1765 in Amelia County. James aged about 50. 7 June 1755 there is a deed from Thomas Poindexter, the elder, William Brechin of
Louis County, VA, John Rutherford and Ann his wife of Hanover County, VA to John Snead of
Hanover County. Consideration of certain slaves devised in will of Sarah Brechin of
Louisa County, VA, deceased, to be divided between the rest of her children and wit by Samuel
Shrewsburg and David Corneal.
There is a deposition, dated 10 August 1765, of George Thomason, overseer for Capt. Poindexter son of Sarah Brechin, George aged about 63, He states Capt. Poindexter offered to build a house for Sarah along with 60 acres for her use as she had been
left very poor after the death of her 2nd husband. She chose instead to live with her
sister Elizabeth Meriwether. Richard C Gissage: Richard was born date unknown in England. He married Sarah Shelton before 1702. Richard's will was probated 3 March 1702/3 in King William County,
VA. The following individuals are also linked to this event: Daniel Miles (executor),
Mary Gissage (executor); William Noyes (executor). Richard died 1703 in King William
County, VA, at age unknown. Correct spelling of name may be Gizzage. He was Justice of the
Peace in 1701/2, one of the 1st members of King William County Court.
This is listed in the Civil Officers’ Public Records Office, London; Colonial Office 5, Volume - 1312, part 2. Richard Gissage has a daughter (Mary Lipscomb) by a previous marriage. She was one of his executors, William Noyes, the other. Mary married Ambrose Lipscomb. Richard disposes of his real property in 4 parts and his personal property in three parts.
131 Sarah Shelton: Sarah was born date unknown. She married Richard C Gissage before 1702. She married Joseph - Josiah Beckley/Bickley 3 September 1703 in King &
Queen County, VA. Sarah died before 1750 in King William County, VA, at age unknown. Maybe an /Ellis/ and married 1st to a Shelton. Sarah married the widower Richard Gissage,
Joseph Bickley approx. 1703/4, published his intention of marrying Sarah, the widow of
Richard Gissage, deed. Soon after this he was appointed guardian of Ralph Shelton,
son of Sarah Bickley by a former marriage.(?) There is an article on the Shelton
